AC2010 Website Privacy Policy
You have reached the Achimota School Capital Campaign website, created and maintained by the
Achimota Commission 2010 (AC2010) group. AC2010 is strongly committed to protecting your privacy and
providing a safe online experience for all of our donors and website visitors. Because we collect certain
limited forms of information about our donors and visitors, we want you to understand the terms and
circumstances under which we gather this information, and what we use it for. This privacy statement will
tell you what we gather, the purpose for which we gather it, how we protect your personal information, and
whom to write to if you see some incorrect information. As a general matter, we urge you to check the
privacy policy on every website you visit so you understand it. Contact us if you have any questions about
our privacy policy or any other matter regarding this website.
Information Collected
We collect personal and non-personal information from you to provide information and service, to
understand your interests, and to conduct our business, and may combine it with information we receive
from third parties.
We may share personal and non-personal information about you with third parties in the extremely limited
and Achimota-School oriented circumstances described in this policy.
We use cookies, web beacons and other technologies to provide personalized content, certain
functionalities, and to better understand the features our visitors prefer.
We adopt reasonable procedures to protect the personal information you send to us. Credit card and other
sensitive information are encrypted during transmission to our sites. However, we provide no guarantees
that your data will always be secure.
The information we gather through the Giving Section on the “How to Donate” page is used only to process
and to thank you for your gift, and to update our database records.
We do not link your IP address to anything that is personally identifiable about you.
We reserve the right to share information to satisfy a legal request from the authorities to protect people
or property.
Email
From time to time, we may send you information about AC2010 or Achimota-related events using bulk
email, because it is an efficient way of communicating. We do not disclose your email address to anyone.
When we email you, we send the message by blind email, thereby leaving it up to you to reveal your email
address to others. Our policy also is to be sparing in our email communications and not inundate you with
emails.
Information held by AC2010
To try to create a more cohesive Achimota community, we are building a database of information on
Achimota alumni and others who donate to the school through the Achimota Trust and the OAA 1980 North
America Group (hereinafter the “Trusts”).
Through various forms on our website, we occasionally receive information about you, such as your name,
address, phone numbers, email addresses, graduation year, current profession, and your boarding house if
you attended Achimota and updates to the alumni directory.
We safeguard this information in a number of ways:
Credit Card Information
On our “How to Donate” page, you will find online forms provided by third parties for donations to the
Trusts. These forms collect credit card information. This information will not be shared with anyone else.
Security
When you make a donation using a credit card, your transaction will be processed in a secure manner. Our
website uses Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology, an industry-standard security protocol widely used for
commercial transactions on the Internet. Its presence is signified by “https://” rather than just the usual
“http://” in the URL line at the top of your screen. Although there is no such thing as completely “perfect
security” on the Internet, we have taken all commercially reasonable steps to insure the safety of your
personal information, and millions of financial transactions take place daily in a secure way under the
protection of SSL technology.
Safeguards to Protect Your Personal Information
We do not distribute any of your contact information to anyone.
We restrict the contact information we hold primarily to your name, previous name, nickname, address,
phone number, graduation year, boarding house, current profession, and e-mail address.
We share your contact information with others only for the limited purpose of facilitating the Achimota
Capital Campaign. For example, we may share the name of an alumnus with an Achimota School Year
Group that is planning to hold a fundraising event on behalf of the School.
We will not release any of your contact information to anyone unless that individual, entity, or website has
an appropriate privacy policy in place.
All such AC2010 partners must sign a Confidentiality/Non-Disclosure Agreement agreeing not to repurpose
or sell any personal donor information they receive from us.
They must also agree to destroy all copies of contact information after their contract with AC2010 has
expired or been terminated.
Only if authorized or required by law will we release contact information to a third party.
